Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the effectiveness of using pictorial with passage to help students understand the contents of Science subject. Besides that, this research was developed to identify whether the usage of pictorials with passages gave better result compared with only texts in notes. The research participants consisted of 60 form four students in a secondary school in Kuantan, Pahang. The research design that was used experimental research design and the method that being used is applicable to achieve the research objectives. Data analysis using Statically Packages for Social Science (SPSS) for windows version 12.0 in percentage and comparing the means score. The finding shows that there was a significant difference before and after using pictorials with passage. However, there was no significant difference between Athira approach group and text approach group. The VARK test was conducted to identify the tendency of students that participate in the research towards their learning study. Regarding to the results, the tendencies of the participants towards learning study are variety such as visual, kinesthetic, audio and read/write.
